Historic Coliseum Receives 2025 Minneapolis Preservation Award

The Historical Coliseum Building recently received the 2025 Minneapolis Preservation Award for the “Adaptive Reuse that honors that building’s original design while supporting contemporary community needs in a neighborhood affected by systemic inequalities.”

This award acknowledges more than just the restored physical structure that rose from the ashes; it recognizes our community's strength, foresight, and dedication to equitable development in the East Lake Street corridor. In the wake of the trauma and devastation of 2020, our team envisioned a chance not only to rebuild but to devise a new sustainable future for the 107-year-old historic building. This project could not have been accomplished without historic tax credits. We continue to be grateful to our many funders and support from the community. Thank you to AIA Minneapolis, the Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission and Preserve Minneapolis for this recognition and commitment to celebrate the historic character of Minneapolis.
